Adolescent Counseling Services is a non-profit with a 35 year history of providing free and affordable mental health services and preventive education. In addition to hosting the digital versions of the 99 Tips Booklet Series and all related content, this blog will be frequently updated with information and advice on adolescent parenting and current adolescent issues/trends.
During adolescence, young people begin to take risks and experiment. They do so because they are moving from a family-centered world to the larger community within which they will begin to define their own identity. As such, they begin to recreate themselves in a fashion that they believe will allow them to survive without the day-to-day guidance of their parents. While there are no easy answers in parenting, we hope that the strategies on this blog and in our “99 Tips” booklet may help you support your child during the challenging time of adolescence.
